Russia’s Yamal LNG to send first LNG tanker till October
MOSCOW, Feb 9 (PRIME) -- Russian liquefied natural gas producer Yamal LNG will send its first tanker with LNG until October, Patrick Pouyanne, CEO of France’s Total, which owns 20% in the Yamal LNG project, said on Thursday during a presentation for investors.
“Mister (Leonid) Mikhelson promised to me that supplies will be launched before his birthday, and he is committed to his promises. Supplies will be launched before October 2017,” he said.
Mikhelson is the CEO of independent gas producer Novatek, which owns 50.1% in the Yamal LNG project. The project encompasses construction of an LNG plant with annual capacity of 16.5 million tonnes at the Yuzhno-Tambeiskoye field. The plant will be constructed in three stages, and the first stage is to be launched in 2017. Besides Novatek and Total, China’s CNPC owns 20% and the Silk Road Fund has 9.9%.
